Sun in Ha – 14 May 2015

Bit of a delayed post. Weather has been terrible and is again. On the 14th there were finally some gaps between the clouds. Tho, seeing conditions weren’t stellar ( 2 / 10 ). So it was extremely challenging again getting any focus and capture enough usable frames. Only managed to capture the big prominence, before full cloud cover again.

Sun in Ha – 1 May 2015

Today there were finally some gaps between the clouds again. Tho, seeing conditions couldn’t be worse ( 1 / 10 ). So it was extremely challening getting any focus and capture enough usable frames.

First, a 3-pane mosaic of the large filament structure. Eventho seeing was terrible, I am happy with the result:

Some other filaments:

A nice prominence:

Sun in Ha – 27 April 2015

Today the temperamental weather continued. Seeing conditions were slightly better than yesterday ( 3 / 10 ).
The filaprominence continues to steal the show, while the rest of the sun is relatively quiet. Tho, there was some flare activity in AR 2327/2331.

First up, the filaprominence. Inverted filter applied to stretch out the details due to it’s faint nature:

Sun in Ha – 26 April 2015

Today the weather was very temperimental. One moment it’s sun and clear and the next it’s clouded and rain. Seeing conditions were terrible too ( 1 / 10 ).

Managed to capture the remnent of that huge prominence from the last days, which shows as a faint filament on the sun now due to the rotation of the sun.

SW Esprit 120 + Quark Chromosphere + TS 0.5 reducer + QHY5L-IIc . Stacked in Autostakkert and processed in Photoshop.

First up, the faint filament. Due to the horrific seeing conditions I had to apply invert filter and stretch it a lot in Photoshop to make it visible:

And last, AR 2327 & 2331:

Sun in Ha – 23 April 2015

Today the sun threw out some fantastic suprises. A giant prominence on the NW limb and a prominence lift off with dozens of magnetic loops on the other side of the limb.

Seeing conditions were about the same as yesterday ( 2 / 10 ).

First, the Giant prominence, two pane panorama:

Next up, the fantastic prominence lift off with just below it, dozens of magnetic loops!:

And last, some smaller prominences further down the Eastern limb:

Sun in Ha – 22 April 2015

Today there was a lot of prominence activity again on the limb. Seeing conditions were similar to yesterday ( 2 / 10 ). So lot of patience was required capturing enough decent frames at the right moment of seeing.

SW Esprit 120 + Quark Chromosphere + TS 0.5 reducer + QHY5L-IIc . Stacked in Autostakkert and processed in Photoshop. I applied flats again to the surface images.

First some great prominence activity:

Sun in Ha – 21 April 2015

Today the skies were clear again, but seeing was worse than yesterday unfortunately ( 2 / 10 ).

Some fantastic activity on the limb today, With some nice loop prominences!

I did not had much time to image everything, so couldn’t capture all active areas like yesterday. Especially with the seeing being pretty bad, it was time consuming capturing decent enough frames.

I also took some flat frames today, to mitigate the uneven brightness in my surface images.

Sun in Ha – 20 April 2015

Today the seeing conditions were a bit better than yesterday. ( 3 / 10 ) There was a lot of Activity on the surface with many active areas at the moment, including a large filament. On the limb it was pretty quiet. A few very faint loop prominences were visible. It was very challenging capturing these.

First, the very faint loop prominences:

Sun in Ha – 19 April (and prom from 17th)

Today it was finally clear again, but with some haze clouds. Seeing conditions were terrible as usual (1 / 10. Guess the jetstream is above us again as always).

With some perserverance I managed to capture some decent enough frames to process some images.

SW Esprit 120 + Quark Chromosphere + TS 0.5 reducer + QHY5L-IIc . Stacked in Autostakkert and processed in Photoshop.

First, some very faint loop prominences. They were fantastic to see through my new obtain binoviewers:

A filament, close to the limb:

Last but not least, I had an unprocessed avi left from the 17th. Some nice prominences:
